I am The Bread of Life !

“Yes, I am the bread of life!

The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

John 6:48‭, ‬63 NLT

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

John 1:1-4 NKJV

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

John 1:14 NKJV

Jesus Christ is the essence of life. He is the true bread/food/nourishment that produces indestructibility in our lives and bodies. Through Christ, we have abundance, righteousness-consciousness and completeness in all it’s manifestations.

The very words that Jesus Christ speaks to us are words of His Spirt and indestructible/eternal Life. A separate scripture teaches us that His word is quick, active, alive, powerful, a living organism, able to create that for which it is spoken.

Another scripture further emphasizes this truth:

“Your words are what sustain me; they are food to my hungry soul. They bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me. How proud I am to bear your name, O Lord.”

Jeremiah 15:16 The Living Bible

Again:

“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.””

Matthew 4:4 NKJV

Bread in the context of the Matthew 4:4 scripture refers to material food. We are what we eat and there’s a place for natural food in this world. But natural/material/physical food alone simply does not have the ability to provide the quality of life that guarantees us victory in this realm and beyond.

That guarantee is provided by the nourishment that comes from Jesus Christ. He is the manifestation of God’s Word, that made and created and governs the entire known and unknown universe(s). He is the Word of God made flesh. This Word, is the ultimate food for our soul, spirit, mind and body.

The next Bible verse further captures the essence of the Word, contained within written scriptures:

“And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”

2 Peter 1:4 NLT

This is a most lovely scripture. Two key words in this scripture stand out for me: “promises” and “enable”. If I may paraphrase, it says that by His great and profoundly precious promises we are able to share and manifest to the fullest extent, the attributes and quality life of His divine nature already residing in us and also by these promises, we are able to escape the corrupt and corrupting influence that is in the world through human desires.

I want to urge us, as a matter of urgency to adopt and appropriate these promises of our Father for ourselves. But to be able to do this effectively, we must first be aware of these promises.

Therefore I encourage us to recommit to spending more time “eating” His Word. Reading, studying, pondering to show ourselves approved unto our God and King.

Maintaining the discipline and consistency required for an ongoing relationship with His spoken word, the Bible can be challenging sometimes. But He is our Help and His Grace is always available to inspire us.

The Psalmist declared by the Spirit that the Word of the Lord is perfect converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure making wise the simple. The more we dig into His instructions for us, the more His Word provokes us to continue.

The state of our very lives is at stake here. By His Word we make war. We fight the good fight by our faith-induced declarations and confessions of His Word.

For example, He has said that we are head and not tail. I receive and believe.

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I receive and believe.

“There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” Psalm 91:10 KJV. I receive and I believe.

The law of the Spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death. I receive and I believe.

He supplies my needs according to His riches in glory. I receive and I believe.

I walk in abundance because of Christ Jesus. Yes! Yes! I  manifest the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, patience, meekness. Amen.

I have forgiveness of sin. I receive and I believe. He gives me wisdom to create wealth. I receive and I believe.

I preach the gospel to the needy by His enabling Spirit in love and humility. I receive and I believe.

It is He who works in me both to will and to do. I receive and I believe.

The more we lean into and press into His Word, the more we are transformed, renewed in our thoughts, which in turn produce attitudes and traits in line with His Spirit.

Remember that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells within us. And that same Spirit quickens our mortal body inducing and producing a quality of life and beauty in us and through us that shines so bright that the world sees it and glorifies God in us.

Once again, I encourage us to spend more time in His Word. Studying, pondering, meditating, to show ourselves approved unto our God and King.

Let’s lean in and press in to His Word continually that we may consistently find promises, instructions and words of our King that unlock the contrary circumstances and situations we encounter in this realm.
