The pursuit of God embraces the nonstop, diligence of bringing our total personality into conformity to that of our God-King.
And this not judicially, but actually.
I do not here refer to the act of justification by faith in Christ.
I speak of a voluntary exalting of God to His proper station over us and a willing surrender of our whole being to the place of worshipful submission which the Creator-creature circumstance makes proper.
This is the cultivating of a new habit of the soul.
The persistent pursuit of God requires a total break from the approval and honor systems and requirements of the world. It is a complete and voluntary sell-out of our entire personality to God.
We do not lose anything of human dignity by this voluntary sell-out of our all to God. We do not by this degrade ourselves as humans; rather we find our right place of high honor as people made in the image of our Creator.
Jesus sought not His own honor, but the honor of God who sent Him. “If I honor myself,” He said on one occasion, “my honor is nothing; it is my Father that honoreth me.”
So far had the proud Pharisees departed from this law that they could not understand one who honored God at his own expense. “I honor my Father,” said Jesus to them, “and ye do dishonor me.”
It is a consistent and nonstop gazing of our inner being on God. Consciously and subconsciously.
Being consistently transformed, by the renewing of the mind, by the Spirit of His Word.
Exercising diligence, by exercising diligence, developing steadfastness, by exercising steadfastness, developing Godliness, which a persistent God-consciousness.
And by extension, developing and exercising love. The love of our Father and Lord Christ, manifesting through us, in how we treat and relate to each other with generosity and affection.
As these qualities are ours and increasingly abound in us, they will keep us productive and active towards the [full personal] knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
2 Peter 1:8 AMPC
You have said, Seek ye My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need].
My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
Hide not Your face from me;
Psalm 27:8-9a AMPC
Excerpts from A.W Tozer.
I was created by you oh God. The only honor I have is that which you bestow on me. Give me the grace and enable me to lose myself in you and seek your honor only.
Amen.
Amen! This is very inspiring. Indeed, we need to be FULLY DEVOTED to HIM. God bless you specially for this post.
