He Sparks My Enthusiasm !

So the Lord sparked the enthusiasm of Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,

and the enthusiasm of Jeshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest,

and the enthusiasm of the whole remnant of God’s people.

They began to work on the house of their God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies,

Haggai 1:14 NLT

This is absolutely exciting and amazing to me.

Earlier verses of this chapter had described the same people as being indifferent and uninterested in doing God’s work.

Until God intervened and animated their zeal by His Spirit.

God can fully spark the enthusiasm of any and every individual as He sees fit, prompting them to execute on any task He desires for them.

Another translation used the phrase “aroused their spirit,” yet another says “stirred their spirit.”

This is a variation of Philippians 2:13 “He works in us both to will and to do..”

God’s scriptures are truly complete, fully aligned, and explains itself.

I love the NLT phrase “sparked their enthusiasm”.

Our Lord and God is in the business of sparking my enthusiasm, drive, motivation and excitement, just enough to make me embark on any endeavor that aligns with His will.

Wow. My job is to practice the art of leaning on Him completely.

Heck, I depend on Him to make me depend on Him, lol. Even when I don’t feel like it.

He triggers my faith that leads to innovation and execution.

Even the Psalmist understood this fundamental truth about our Father when, he said in 119:73:

“You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands.” NLT

Thank you, Father, because I am your project.

Selah!
