Humanity’s Unhealthy Dependence on Idolizing Others.

Acts 14:18 TPT

[18] “Even after saying these things, they were barely able to restrain the people from offering sacrifices to them.”

Acts 14:8-18 illustrates a phenomenon that remains prevalent today.

Despite the passage of time, humanity’s intrinsic tendency to idolize individuals has not diminished.

We seem compelled by an overwhelming desire to venerate and defer to those we perceive as powerful or superior.

This desperate need to elevate certain personalities is a reflection of our deep-seated inclination to seek out and revere figures of authority or distinction.

This need manifests itself in different ways among different people groups.

Even after Paul and Barnabas preached and taught the Word, the people still wanted to worship them.

In churchdom, this is evident in the profound longing for spiritual “fatherism”, “paparism” and the development of a cult of personality.

When Paul asked that we follow or imitate Him as he follows Christ, he wasn’t asking that we literally follow him. We all follow Christ.

He was asking that we follow his example by following after #TheChrist. The Designer and Modeler of our new life.

Mirror me as I mirror Christ. (Jesus is not an example for us but of us.)

By His Spirit, we will cultivate diligence in studying and understanding the nature of our Father and #TheChrist through the inspired writings of the book of books, #thebible.

May we learn the principle of looking away from everything else and everyone and unto Jesus Christ.

The Father and Architect of our faith!

Selah!
